Inflammation, Immune Function, and Schizophrenia: An Overview

چکیده
To understand the role of inflammation and immune function in the risk of schizophrenia. LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to: • Define the mechanisms responsible for a healthy immune system • Describe the effects of higher levels of inflammation on the CNS to promote mood disturbances and psychosis • Describe variable responses to antipsychotics and the connection to the anti-inflammatory properties of these medications • Recognize anti-inflammatory treatments that might be used as adjunctive therapy to mitigate symptoms TARGET AUDIENCE This continuing medical education activity is intended for psychiatrists, psychologists, primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other health care professionals who seek to improve their care for patients with mental health disorders. Overview of Relationship of Allergic Asthma with Diet and Food Intake
Allergic asthma is the most common acute inflammatory airway disorder and their incidence population has exploded in the last years, being estimated that over 300 million people worldwide have the condition. Here, we present a brief overview of relationship of allergic asthma with diet and food intake. Several studies have shown that most asthma cases are due to an allergic immune response to e...
متن کاملP125: An Overview of the Effect of Inflammation Induced by Temporal Epilepsy on the Hippocampus and Amygdala Based on Nerve iImaging
Temporal epilepsy is a common neurological disorder that begins before adulthood. Two -way factors in causing epilepsy and continuing attacks can be inflammation that is caused by immune system and infection. The hippocampus and amygdala are part of a limbic system that relies on memory and emotional regulation. The purpose of this study was to review the effect of epileptic-induced inflammatio...
متن کاملO1: Modeling of Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Magnetite Nanoparticles for The Rehabilitation of Immune System Function and Reducing Inflammation and Promoting Myelination in the Treatment of MS Disease
By Using the modeling of the mesenchymal (bone marrow) stem cell nanoparticles, the reinstatement of the immune system leads to the treatment of MS, result in the formation of a new immune system for the body by stem cell. The presence of stem cells promotes and strengthens myelination, and that, using simulation and 3D modeling, stem cells can be transmitted correctly to the target and place o...
متن کاملEvidence for an Immune Role on Cognition in Schizophrenia: A Systematic Review
OBJECTIVE Recent evidence has associated immune and inflammatory changes to cognitive performance in many diseases, including schizophrenia. Since this is a new research field where concepts are not yet solid and new questions and hypothesis are still arising, the present study aimed at summarizing the available clinical data associating schizophrenia, cognition and inflammation/immune function...
متن کاملImmunopsychiatry: important facts
Accumulating evidence indicate a role for the immune system particularly inflammation and autoimmunity in the aetiology of major psychiatric disorders such as depression and schizophrenia. In this paper, we discuss some of the key advances in immunopsychiatry in order to highlight to psychiatrists and other health professionals how an increased understanding of this field might enhance our know...
متن کاملMolecular mechanisms regulating immune responses in thromboangiitis obliterans: a comprehensive review
Thromboangiitis obliterans (TAO) is a thrombotic-occlusive as well as an inflammatory peripheral vascular disease with unknown etiology. Recent evidence has supported the immunopathogenesis of the disease, however, the factors contributing to the altered immune function and vascular tissue inflammation are still unclear. This review was intended to collate the more current knowledge on the regu...
